Deprovisioning a Device

Before decommissioning, stop and remove the Mesh of Things agent container from the device if you still have access to it.

Open the device detail page and select Decommission device. The device disappears from the dashboard immediately and its certificate can no longer be renewed.

WARNING

Decommissioning is not instant certificate revocation. An agent that is still running may continue to communicate until its current certificate expires. Mesh of Things temporarily reserves the old private addresses so they are not reassigned while that certificate could still be valid.

To deprovision devices in bulk, select multiple devices from the Devices page and use the batch deprovisioning action. Batch jobs run in the background and their progress can be tracked on the Batches page.

Decommissioning is permanent. To reconnect the machine, create a new device and run its new bootstrap command.
